Training 

Upcoming course dates for Shotfirer Training are shown below. Blastcon Australia conducts all its training on behalf of the third party agreement with Tectra Australia (RTO No. 40889). Blastcon Australia conducts training either on mine sites or in various locations throughout Australia as well as various international countries. 

 The following link to the Department of Natural Resources and Mines provides you with useful information for Blasting and Shotfiring. (Applying for a shot firer licence | Business Queensland) . Please Note: All persons must be at least 18 years of age to participate in these courses and have an acceptable explosives security clearance.

Full Conduct Opencut Course

This is a 4–5-day course aimed at those who would like to gain the skills to become an opencut shotfirer. This course includes time in the classroom as well as a day at a quarry doing a practical shot. A great option for a new starter in the industry.

Support Shotfirer Opencut Course 

This is a 2–3-day course aimed at those who would like to get into the
mining industry on a blast crew. It is also the requirement for OCE’s. This course includes time in the classroom as well as a day at a quarry doing a practical shot when in Brisbane, or if in Townsville you will do an in-house practical. A great option for a new starter in the industry.

Refresher Course Full Conduct Opencut Course

This is a course for current shotfirers licence holders to renew their qualifications. You can do this from home or work at any time or join us in class for a 1-day refresher if you prefer that face-to-face experience.

Underground Hardrock Course 

This course is designed for those who are already working onsite in an underground hard rock mine. It is a 4-day course and will include theory as well as practical in both production and development mining.
